My USB Controller is running on IRQs 20/21/22 which the sound controller is also using. I checked in my BIOS and there's no option to change IRQs above 15. I just need the USB controller on separate IRQs.

Thanks everyone

unless you can change them in windows through device manage, i think your screwed unless you can find a third party application to do it...i wouldn't want to mess around with those 2 much, might start causing conflicts

lol, I'm trying to free up the conflicts. I don't want my USB controller fighting with my sound controller for supremacy and makin a big mess. Can you recommend me any of the applications?

Did you enabled or disable the APIC (advanced programming interrupt controller)?
Enabling APIC mode will expand available IRQ resources for the system............

Also, are you experiencing problems either with your USB or sound card? Does Device Manager report that you have a conflict (yellow exclamation points)? Otherwise, it may be just fine the way it is. I've noticed that somethings on my rig share IRQs and they all work fine together.

unless the driver makers messed up then all devices should be able to run on the same irq

acpi make it so you cant assign then yourself

assigning them yourself dont in the end mean anything because the
hardware interupts are hardwired
you should be able to see it in your manual
like agp and the pci under it always share the hardware interupt
and other onboard things always share with some of the other pci slots
but it should be able to work ok

hhhmmm unless you use creative who dont like to follow the spc.'s
and who hoag the pci bus

Hmm............. audigy set the PCI latency at 64 while other peripheral set it at 32...............
Thats a bus hogger? think so :D

Well, there's a problem with my mouse. When I move it kinda fast, it doesn't respond onscreen. I've tried everything, even RMAing the mouse, but the problem's still there. The only thing I can think of is to get the USB controller on its own IRQ. Razer suggested that they've had lots of problems when the USB controller shares IRQ with the audio controller. I'm pretty sure it's just BS, but it's the only thing left for me to try.

in devices you can see if your usb is sharing irq with your sound card

Put your mouse on the PS2 port then. PS2 port is faster, and have its own IRQ, no sharing stuff!
If you dont have those USB to PS2 converter, go and buy one. I notice that any USB mouse can be attached to USB port with any USB to PS2 converters!

are you sure that any one would do ?

because back in the days when mouse was ps2 and came with serial com port
converters you could not always get a logitec mouse working with a ms converter and such

Zefram, you're not helping. I don't want to spend any money on a USB to PS/2 converter no matter how cheap it is. I need someone to guide me in changing the IRQ of the USB controller.

well if your bios is set to acpi which is best to have it set as
then you cant change the irq's
and if you change it so it's no longer acpi then you need to resinstall windows
or it will be messed up and unstable
