Hi, I have Ghost and want to back up an image to dvd's. However, I keep getting a message when I attempt to check/verify the image after it's been burnt. The message always says:
"EA39070A: The internal structure of the PQI file is invalid or unsupported"
I've contacted Symantic, who have supplied me with various ways of rectifying the problem. I haven't done them all (mainly because I'm wairy of changing things that shouldn't need changing), but all the ones I have done haven't worked. I attach a list of all the things i've been told to do below.
Someone, somewhere, must have had this problem and has managed to resolve it. PLease help. FYI - Windows XP sp2, TEAC DVD+RW DV-W58E drive
List of things i've been told to do:
A) "This issue can occur occur due to low system resources, bad blocks on the hard drive, severely fragmented files and memory conflicts. As a work around, I suggest that you perform the following troubleshooting steps before using Norton Ghost.
1. Delete Windows Temporary files
2. Defragment both source and destination hard drives.
3. Close Background applications
4. Check hard drive for errors.
You can check hard drive for errors by running Microsoft CHKDSK."
I have done all this.
B) "For additional information regarding the error message with the code EA39070A, please refer to the following document from our Online Knowledge Base:
http://service1.symantec.com/Support/powerquest.nsf/docid/2004010648203262"
I've been on it, and have followed it. I have disbaled DLA, not uninstalled it.
C) "This issue can happen if Windows Service Pack 2 is installed on your system. Please be aware that Norton Ghost 9.0 is compatible with Windows XP Service Pack 2. However, you need to modify the Data Execution Prevention (DEP) policy to allow Norton Ghost 9.0 to launch its services during startup. Please refer to the document linked below for more information on resolving this issue:
http://service1.symantec.com/Support/powerquest.nsf/docid/2004101410380862"
Haven't done this - I dont like changing things if it's not necessary.
D) Run Microsoft Memory Diagnostic Tool & Perform a clean boot of your computer.
For assistance in downloading and running Microsoft Diagnostic Tool, please refer to the following URL link:

A clean boot is basically the cleanest environment in which you can boot your computer. This will eliminate any possible software conflicts that could occur with Symantec Programs. For help in performing a clean boot of your system, please visit the following document on our website:
http://service1.symantec.com/Support/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2001053014402339
NOTE 1: While following the above mentioned document, in the second step for disabling the services, after checking Hide all Microsoft Services, in the left over services, please do not disable the Norton Ghost service, please leave it checked, click Apply and close, and then reboot the system.
NOTE 2: You must go into MSconfig and uncheck all items in the Startup tab related to Spyware/Adware including other software applications installed on your computer, and then restart the computer.
Again, I haven't done this (scared).
If you are reading this, many thanks!!!
