Recently I had to re-install Win2k™ (due to my own complacency and :o forgetting my admin password). I knew it would wipe the "My Documents" folder and any custom settings I had made, and was prepaired to accept that.
Upon completion of the re-installation and booting up I've noticed that my drive letters had re-assigned themselves  from C: to D:, D: to E: etc..etc.. all the way through to my G: drive becoming H:  . Attempts to re-assign them to their original configuration have failed because re-assignment of the drive holding my boot sector, and/or system files isn't allowed, and now I can't get some of the web-based applications I use to install because they need to install to the C: drive which is now my D: drive and it says that my C: drive doesn't exist  . Why didn't Win2k™ just re-install over itself  like was intended on/as the C: drive, instead of advancing the drive letter assignments. Can anyone help me? I've exhausted every resource I can think of short of a reformat of the harddrive, which I'm trying to avoid. Thank you in advance for any help. :D

There is really no easy way aroung it. To re-assign the drive letter for the partition windows is running from (and still have it work) you need to reinstall Windows. During Windows Setup pay close attention when you are picking and chooseing the partitions to make sure the drive letters are all the way you'd like them to be.

I've been in your position a couple times after rushing through a Windows installation. I've never successfully gotten out of it without reinstalling. If anyone has a miracle method I would love to hear it!
