Recently I had to re-install Win2k™ (due to my own complacency and :o forgetting my admin password). I knew it would wipe the "My Documents" folder and any custom settings I had made, and was prepaired to accept that.
Upon completion of the re-installation and booting up I've noticed that my drive letters had re-assigned themselves  from C: to D:, D: to E: etc..etc.. all the way through to my G: drive becoming H:  . Attempts to re-assign them to their original configuration have failed because re-assignment of the drive holding my boot sector, and/or system files isn't allowed, and now I can't get some of the web-based applications I use to install because they need to install to the C: drive which is now my D: drive and it says that my C: drive doesn't exist  . Why didn't Win2k™ just re-install over itself  like was intended on/as the C: drive, instead of advancing the drive letter assignments. Can anyone help me? I've exhausted every resource I can think of short of a reformat of the harddrive, which I'm trying to avoid. Thank you in advance for any help. :D
