Annoying Problem...... Help

One of my kids tried to download a demo and now I've got this DOS looking icon on the sceen. When I try to delete it, an error message appears stating "Cannot delete TomClancysSplinterCell3-ChaosTheorydemo: It is being used by another person or program. Close any programs that might be using the file and try again."

I'm the only one on the computer and I"ve tried closing everthing to no avail.

First, you should always uninstall using the uninstaller that came with the program. If you've already done that or that is unavailable, then try booting into Safe Mode and deleting it from there. Safe Mode should prevent whatever program, driver, or applet that is referencing the demo. Hopefully, it will let you delete it.

Also, if your kids are regularly on the same computer as you, you should consider setting up a separate hardware profile and desktop for them. That way, whatever they do won't affect your programs and files. You can do this yourself or get a third-party (you may even find some that are free) program that will do it for you. if safe mode doesnt allow you to do so. you can end the eplorer process in task manager. and then with task manager still open, you can run cmd, command prompt, and browse to you desktop folder from there and delete the icon/files from there. and then you can relaunch explorer when your done. i've had to do this several times. if you dont know how to use the command prompt, ask these guys, im lazy right now
