lol your probably right there :p

i used to think, what was all this crap about xp being....well crap, but now i know, the more i get into the OS the more problems i see, i wish MS would just sort out the bloody problems and stop trying 2 make software like the new antispyware, and SP2's security centre, id rather get a firewall like zonealarm, which is way better than MS's version, and whats the point in MS releasing an anti-spyware program when all it is going to do is get targetted, i think everybody would be much happier with spy S&D, which we all know is never going to be targetted by hackers/viruses.

so a message to MS STOP MAKING THE CRAPPY UPDATES, AND START FIXING THE BUGS

well the problem is, microstupid didnt really make xp from scratch. they decided to take coding that worked fine from like 2000 and slap it into xp. they just kinda threw everything in there all willy nilly. ive heard that it takes a team of 5 about a week to find where anything is located in the coding. ive also heard that once they find the code, they cant really decypher it because the coding is that old and therefore cant find the problem. again, everything i just said isnt fact, its just what ive heard. but i havnt heard any better explanation yet other than M$ is ran by monkeys who shove bananas up their asses all day long.

right-click the taskbar

go to -> properties -> start menu tab -> cusotmize

and make sure that enable "dragging and dropping" is enabled

and xp is a very fine os, its doesnt have parts taken from 2000, i built on top of 2000. its very stable, and alot of issues with it are user error. people critisize it because they dont know how to use it. its been around for a long time, the gui portion has always been pretty much the same, so why people cant figure it out beats me. but there is nothing wrong with windows, on its own, it is perfect.

on its own, it is perfect.

not even gonna comment on that...

it is perfect on it own, when 3rd party software, internet/network connections, and L-users get involved, it becomes imperfect

Agreed.

ok, fine, as perfect as its gonna get, you cannot possible expect one single os to run perfectly with every piece of software/hardware out there, AND have ultimate protection against new adware/spyware and viruses that come out everyday

no, thats what programs like spybot search and destroy, adaware, a squared 2, zonealarm, norton, and everything else like that, is created for. xp doesnt have to do that. i can honestly say i have never in my life used the built in firewall for any reason. i can honestly say i never will either, because it is horrible. so what youre telling me, is if i want my computer to run "perfectly", dont put anything on it, dont hook it up to the internet, just let it sit there pretty much. good call. imma go disconnect my computer from the internet now and reformat so my computer runs "perfectly", because obviously xp is so awesome by itself, and thats how it was designed to work, by itself, with nothing else.

no, thats how its perfect, im simply pointing out that you cant blame the os for all your computer troubles

speedy11309

no. youre explanation of "how its perfect" is so confusing. oh wait, cuz you havnt really explained anything. so, yea, lucy, you got some splainin to dooooooo.

If you have compatible software and drivers, XP runs and operates great. If you understand it!

well, ever since ME and XP ive had nothing but problems. dont even say there was anything good about ME, because that thing was worse than any other os ever made. period. even though ME was the most crash happy thing ever, xp follows closely behind. i know, youre going to say xp barely crashes, ive never had it crash on me. yea, well, i have xp crash atleast 2 times a day. 99% of the time its on startup. the only things i have running on startup are xp pro, drivers, and necessary windows ************************. no other programs start when xp starts. its like clockwork, as soon as the desktop appears, bye bye, crash. yes...i have reformatted/reinstalled. yes i have changed hdds. no its not a power thing. yes its a xp thing.

edit: forgot to tell you that i have installed multiple xp's on this computer and others, and the same thing has happened. all legal copies too mind you.

ME was a mistake. i have xp crash on me a couple times, and seen alot of crashes with it, but comapred to other versions, XP does alot better in comparison, has much better troubleshooting tools i find. although when it goes down, its goes down hard. but that doesnt happen very often

speedy11309

happens to me everyday. :-/ yea, most of the debugging tools never work for me. like, for instance, when you "turn your computer off wrong", after it crashes, and goes to check for disk errors, there is no way for me to get out of it even if i know what the problem is, it just goes. and it has never found anything wrong. that dr. watson thing always freezes and crap. yea, when this sucker crashes, takes me a long ass time to get it back up and running. a real pain in the ass when all i wanted to do was check email. -_-

Speedy has the same type of argument for disliking XP as most people do for liking Macs lol... "but macs are better, because... because... oh i dont know, i just like macs better..." Ive never ever ever had as many problems with XP as i had with 98. Wah wah wah, use whatever OS you like and get over it. There are bugs in all of em, and the affect things in different ways. So wah wah wah...

For "perfect" computing, the OS has to be written well and third-party software has to be written well to integrate with the OS and take advantage of the tools the OS offers. The best I've seen so far is the Amiga OS (Workbench) and Amiga third-party software. The Amiga OS was small (the entire OS could fit on a 880K floppy disk), functional, multitasking (Amiga offered true functional multitasking when Microsoft still had Windows 3.1), and robust (the OS incorporated Amiga's multi-chip design and was the first to integrate UNIX). Not only that, the Amiga OS was rock solid. During the five years I've used the Amiga, it never crashed once!

Unfortunately, neither Microsoft nor third-party programmers that write for Microsoft OS do a good enough job writing good code. There's no need to be elegant when you can still make money off mediocre code (ahh, the advantages of market share). That's why there are so many crashes. After all, that's why we have Plug-N-Pray, right? :D

people may like xp, thats fine, i hate it. it has been nothing but a pain in the ass to me. it may be "perfect" to someone else, but it sure as hell isnt to me. thats why as soon as i get my next computer, hopefully soon, linux will be installed on it. im fed up with windows and microsoft in general. hell, you cant even call M$ without them charging you an arm and a leg. wait, lemme rephrase that, you can the first 2 times. the 3rd time they charge you $200+ for the call. yea, sounds ludacris, but true. its on their website somewhere.
