HELPPPPPPPPPP pleaseeeeeeeeee!! how do i go about repairing windows i really cannot afford to lose any of my work!!!!!! :( system root system32 hall.dll file is missing or corrupt!! what can i doo??? i put in the windows disk and went to repair console.. takes me to a black screen and asks which windows install would i like to logon to.. i select 1 (my only one) and it asks for administrator password.. i dont have one so i just press enter.. then it shows me C:/system: _ ?? what do i do now?? pleaseeeeeeeeee alllll help will be greatly appreciated!

if you install XP over the orignal install you can create another user and so by doing that you can therefore recover all the data and then even, format and make sure everything is sorted out that way.. Loads easier.. Unless you have the problem solved?

boot into windows and says hall.dll was corrupt or missing soooooooooo as anyone would do, i went crazy :o first thing that came to mind was search google off my sisters pc and then see if anyone could help me here.. if you install XP over the orignal install you can create another user and so by doing that you can therefore recover all the data and then even, format and make sure everything is sorted out that way.. found something on the net which told me to use bootcfg /list then bootcfg /rebuild and it's working now :) thanks for the suggestion though
