I just tried to update my BIOS from 1003 to 1004 and then to 1006 (no 1005?). I updated to 1004. Everything seemed to be ok. I updated to 1006. I got message windows repeating the same thing over and over. Something about a file in my registry was changed by windows to do something crappy or w/e. I got freaked out and then downgraded to 1003. After getting 1003, I could get to desktop for 2 seconds and then I would get a BSOD. The error was a bunch of numbers and letters (mostly 0s). I had to clear CMOS and have no overclocks in order to get to my desktop. Any Suggestions?
Sry for the long post. :(

Update: After I got it working, I tried to overclock it just a bit. It gave me the same BSOD. It won't handle any overclocks at all anymore. WTF! Clearing CMOS is getting so tiring!
well I haven't had any problems with mine and I've updated to 1006 I believe. Umm are you using the software in windows to try to update. try updated with stock speeds and fan speeds on normal. Other than that I'm not sure what to suggest. Make sure you update the bios update program too though because some old versions of the updater won't support the newest bios updates. other than that best of luck and let us know what happens :)

I have everything at stock speeds and it is still giving me the error at desktop. I did use Asus Update to update it. I am using the 1004 update right now and I can't even update to 1006 because of the error. I've reset CMOS many times already. Damnit this is stupid. I'm going to try changing out sticks of RAM to find out if that's the problem.
If the problem persists, do you guys think that I should return the board? If I return it, I'm so going with DFI.

Ok I updated to 1006 BIOS, but after I restarted, the problem came back. Wtf. I contacted Asus, but they haven't gotten back to me. Has anyone had this problem before? I'm seriously thinking about returning it. Stupid pos BIOS.

Ok I got sick of the problem and found time to reformat today. Everything is going well so far. Stupid Asus customer service...and Microsoft Activation thingy...BTW I have a story to tell about Microsoft Customer Service. It was so surreal becuase I called at about 10:30 pm Pacific time and I actually got through to a person!!! His name was Rajiv I think, but it was pretty neat having an actual person talk to you at that time of night!
it was probably a call center in India :p
