Running an Athlon 3000+ (Barton), mobo only supports PC2700 in single channel. Want to know if an upgrade to something like an asus A7N8X-E, is worth the trouble.

It is if your RAM can run 200MHz cause ur CPU is designed for 200FSB...

I am pretty sure the 3000+ use a 166MHz FSB. With PC2700 RAM you wouldn't be able to overclock the FSB much, so unless you are after some of the features available on the A7N8X-E Deluxe there wouldn't be much point.
