First of all , I'm new to PC hardware. I have emachines T2542, and its detailed spec is below.

Intel® Celeron® 2.50 GHz Processor
128KB L2 cache & 400 MHz FSB
Intel® 845GV Chipset
Motherboard Imperial GLVE
256 MB DDR (PC 2100)
40 GB HDD 1
48x Max. CD-RW Drive; 3.5" 1.44MB FDD
Intel® Extreme Graphics 3D
64 MB Shared Memory
10/100Mbps built-in Ethernet
56K ITU v.92 ready Fax/Modem
AC '97 Audio
6 USB 2.0 ports (2 on front), 1 Serial, 1 Parallel, 2 PS/2, Audio-In & Out

Now my motherboard does not work, so I want to change it. I'm not sure whether new one is compatible. My new one I chose is "MACH SPEED PM2MP Micro ATX Intel Motherboard" (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813187002 (http://) )

Can anyone suggest me about that? .... Thx in adv :>

Yeah, go with the one Juan suggested...If you're not going to get a video card, then get that one...and even if you do want to get a video card, don't get the motherboard you liked us to, cause it only supports AGP4x...which sucks...

Thx for all your help, I have three questions.

1) My old board is 400 MHz FSB , but new one that Juan suggested is 800/533MHz. Can it work properly?
2) What is the difference between "DDR 266 (PC 2100)" and "DDR 400 (PC 3200)" ?
3) Have another motherboard that is a lower price? .. cause my budget is limited about $25-40.

Thx again :>

Benchmark and real-world test shown that there isn't much difference between AGP4X and AGP8X.

1) 800/533Mhz board will scale down to 400Mhz when a 400Mhz CPU is fitted. BUT, do check the compatibility list with the manufacturer
2)DDR266 means that the RAM is meant to be run at 133Mhz. It is DDR, which means Double Data Rate, so the effective clock for 133Mhz RAM is 266Mhz. And, the PC2100 means that the 266Mhz RAM can transfer 2,100Mbps........
So, the difference between DDR266 and DDR400 is the speed it meant to be run - its obvious, DDR400 is faster than DDR266!

some newer videocards aren't backwards compatible with AGP 4x...i'm pretty sure mine isn't....

But hey, get the motherboard i got...it supports 400/533/800mhz bus...AGP8x...dual channel memory, gigabit LAN, SATA...only thing is that it doesn't have voltage adjustments...I can get 400-500mhz overclocks no problem, by only adjusting FSB...It's microATX and only costed me 89.99 canadian...

the asus p4r800-vm might be a good board too, its pretty well the same as the one juan suggested, same chipset and all that. my brother has one and its good

i think gigabyte has a board based on that chipset as well
