Hi there, how do I install multiple OS on one system. ie Windows and Linux? What should be my concerns if want to do multiple OS and how do I go about doing it? Thanks for your help.

i would make sure i had some unpartitioned space or a partition i could spare
and then just install linux on it
linux put in a bootloader where you can deside if you want to run linux or windows
i'm not sure if ms return the favour though :)

Thanks Rudegar, I have 4 partitions on a single HDD with win xp running in one of them. I should be installing the new OS in a partition not running the win xp right? Will the applications that I'm currently running be able share between the two OS? You are helpful..thanks!

no as default you cant use any of the windows applications and windows cant run linux applications
and they cant read eachothers filesystems
but thats default only
messing around with linux should be it able to read the windows partition if the windows partition is ntfs it maybe more tricky
messing around with wine should make many windows applications run under linux
i dont think that windows can run linux applications though but i could be wrong
you can get a plugin for totalcommander so it reads the linux filesystem though
install linux on an partition which is empty or which you dont mind being deleted

youll need a boot loader program to make things easier. Try researching either LILO or grub.
