Hi, I read the part in the 99 tips on improving windows XP about faster start up and stuff..

I downloaded the bootvis program, i followed what you guys said, i performed the first trace->next boot + driver delays.. i then rebooted

after that i did the trace-> optimize.. i rebooted the computer

now after when the computer restarts i get a popup saying bootvis is optimizing.. i've let it sit for 1 hour and yet it just stays there..

I get that msg and the only way to get rid of it is to end process...

Does anyone know how long this is actually supposed to optimize.. or is this just not working for me? I hope you guys can help me out :)

Thanks

Thanks khilladi, i had it disabled from that list when i was disabling/stopping unncessary services.. never knew that would of been the problem..

thanks again..

btw after trace--> optimize and after my comp rebooted.. nothing popped up after that screen saying "bootvis: optimizing...." (the picture in previous post)

is this normal? or does it pop up something and show the results like trace--> next boot + driver delays??

thanks..

To hijack the thread, did you notice any difference in startup time after running the bootvis optimisation?

Icemetal, when the bootvis came out this:

Wati for about 5 minutes, then press ALT+TAB, there is a OK button popup that is hidden behind those notifications!!!!!

And ACE, i dont think BOOTvis works, its just for diagnostic purposes.........
