Windows XP home vrs Windows XP Pro

Hi, I was wondering if there is any real difference in the two os's in performance running apts and such? I see Alienware and a few other gaming rigs use the XPpro over the home edition, so is there really a advantage to gamers using pro?

There is no performance loss/gain from using either a Windows XP Pro or Home. System with lower RAM will benefit from using Windows XP Home, as Windows XP Pro have many unnecessary service running on the background. With ample RAM installed (512MB), there wont be any noticeable differences between XP home and PRO.

Windows XP Pro came with many features, and unless you're going to utilise all the extra features, you'd better off with a Windows XP Home....... its cheaper than XP Pro!

Another advise, Windows XP Home wont connect to a network with more than 20 computers.......... for that you need a Windows XP Pro. No house have more than 20 computer! :D

pro is more customizable, and has a few nifty features. i've heard about there being a hack that can almost cpmpletely turn home into pro but i've never bothered to look into it.

i've been running home for a long time, and recently switched to pro (lost my home cd key) and i have yet to notice any difference.

So no better networking then on pro over home? Thats what I was lead to believe, but maybe I misunderstood what was being said. So basically Pro is better for networking computers rather then better networking for playing games online?

what are you talking bout. i bought a LEGIT copy of xp pro for $4.50 a couple days ago. xp pro is used by colleges because of networking stuff. thats really all.

hyperthreading is intels way of slowing your sh1t down and saying its working like 2 cpu's.
