The new Thermalright SI-120 heatsink is a redesigned XP-120 that offers greater motherboard compatibility while still accommodating a 120mm fan of your choice. In fact, Thermalright claims the SI-120 will fit all known Intel P4 and AMD K8 motherboards (at least they haven’t found one yet it didn’t fit). The SI-120 incorporates five heat pipes to transfer heat out of the copper base into a large array of aluminum fins (just like the original XP-120).

To provide better motherboard compatibility the new SI-120 is taller than the original XP-120.

The base has also been redesigned and the SI-120 heatsink (on the right) is slightly longer than the XP-120 to allow for the added height.

Enough clearance for tall RAMs.......

But if I got that insted of the XP-120, I would not have had an excuse to replace my ECS motherboard with a DFI LanParty board.

i wonder if it'll be too tall for narrow case users. consider after adding a 120mm fan will there be enough room for air to travel to the top of the fan.

That is the most diabolical excuse i've ever heard :p
Buy DFi Lanparty and this HSF........... :D

I think its better this way, because the hot air have clearance to travel all the way to PSU exhaust fans? :p
Plus, with higher fan mounting, shouldn't the air move freely around the CPU? This will cool all the component......

What, you are going to buy a new board for the heat sink and use that old CPU with all that messy thermal compound all over it? Clean it off and reuse it, how crude is that?!!
