Since I've been using a PC ( as far a I can remember, 1990 ), I`ve never seen any utility which can defrag HDDs on a DOS Mode and have flexibility to configure defrag settings.
Windows 98 and XP defrag utlity is fine, no complies. Some may think that "Speed Disk" of Norton Utilities (recently bundled in Norton SystemWorks) is better, but I found a real piece of work, so I invite you to give it a try.
It can defrag in DOS Mode (like the Sysinternals util for the pagefile). You can find O&O Defrag V8.0 Professional Edition for 32 and 64 bit workstations and servers in the following site:

With NOD32 Antivirus, I consider this app as one of the best I've seen lately. Highly recommendable. Hope you post your experiences.
