I don't know what happened!!! My computer has been working fine, then out of no where I get this error that pops up.

It looks like a 1 inch high by 5 in long warning, the top dark grey bar says in the left hand side "Windows-No Disk

then there is this red circle with a white X in the middle, then to the right of that it says "There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive."

then I can click on "cancel" "Try Again" "Continue"

Dam!!! I can't get rid of this dam thing, I tried puting in disks and running them, my windows XP don't do anything with "Control-ALT-Delete"

I even shut down twice.

I hope this is not a virus, I'm going to run a virus scan now.

Does anybody have an idea what this can be??? please help!!

When does this happen? All the time, when you try to use a certain program, or other? This used to be a common thing for NT and Win 2k, but rare in the XP world. Quick Time 6 has an issue that causes it, but so do card readers. Try turning your system off, ditching the card reader and turning it back on.
If that doesn't work post some more info on the error. Such as when it happens and the exact wording or the error. Especially if it has "Please insert a disk into drive \Device\Harddisk2\DR4" at the end of it.

Anyway, mind stating what version of windows Xp are you using? Sp1? Sp2? No SP?

If the message keeps popping up............ insert a disk to please your system then :D

I have Windows Home Version with SP2 (2002)

What I did find out is that if I click on it 30 times very fast it will go away, but comes back when I turn the PC back on.

Also "Sapo_Feo" I'm glad you mentioned something about the card reader, because I just used it the day this problem started, I have not used it in such a long time. So right there I feel like this is the problem. I'll have to pull it from the system later on in the day and post back.

Also, this is the file that would pop up in the dark grey bar on top of the window. "200:qttask.exe-No Disk"

I want to pull that dam card reader right now but I don't have the time, ever since I had to go thru the back of the case to plug it into a USB port I hated that thing :D

thanks everybody, Joe

If I'm not misstaken, qttask.exe is the apple quicktime player. Maybe try uninstalling that and reinstalling quicktime, set it to run only when needed

I may just delete Quick Time all together if I don't use it, or need it. I have not heard from Quick time in a long while, and funny that you mentioned it because it just poped up asking to be updated, now thats two things I have to poke around with to find my problem :D at least I'm making some headway.

I've been so busy all day I haven't had the time yet to mess with my own PC, I'm using my girl friends PC right now. Its such an out dated slow clunker. :D

thanks my friend, Joe

qttask.exe is the tray icon for quicktime. If you don't use quicktime, just get rid of it. I don't use it regularly, but very rarely, I do. If you don't want to get rid of it, you can just go into msconfig and uncheck it from the startup tab and that should take care of it.

Thank you to all the great people who knew what to suspect and to tell me what to do.

I think I'll plug the Card Reader back in later on being that when I got that pop up it had the Quicken file in it supporting that between my card reader and Quicken was giving me the problem.

I still think its mostly the Quicken softwares problem.

I deleted Quick time, it was every where!! then I even unpluged it my disk card reader and everything went back to normal.

Thats great that there is page of this problem in the Apple web site! thank you peternintzel for bringing this to the table.

I'm now realizing that I should check the web site first if there is anything posted first for this problem :)
