Heya Guys, this is gonna be a boring thread but please read on...

I am making a small database for a friend and am having problems. Can anyone help? This is what i wanna do...

Basically, its an address book. I have a form where you can add, delete and scroll through records. However, i want another form where i can search for a specific name by typing it into a box and by clicking search. Ideally, the first form then opens with that record in. I doubt that made sense so in short (I think) how do you have a query where the criteria is dependant upon a text box.

Thanks for any help
Ed

I feel like a real idiot because i posted this thread and then had a brainwave and fixed the problem. I have another one though...

In access i have command buttons that open different forms. How do i make it so that this button not only opens a different form but closes down the current one. This is to prevent a long chain of forms building up? This is easily done with a seperate button but that is impractical, how can i make it so that one button does both functions.

Thanks
Ed
