I am playing around with different shareware data recovery softwares (Uneraser and and REST2514) but cannot find any . mp3 files I deleted. Can anybody help
me recover these files.

You can try "Easeus DataRecoveryWizard" (http://www.easeus.com/) to restore lost data. I think you will find it worth trying.

Do any of those work on a hard drive that has been formatted but not written over? Just curious. I haven't made an oopsie if you're wondering.
