Why the f**k not?!? I'd LOVE a tsunami over here. Well, maybe not actually...
The best surfing I've ever done was late summer last year after that hurricane devastated the carribean it blew itself out over the atlantic. For about 3-4 days down in Devon and Cornwall we had brilliant sunshine and 6-10ft waves with a 10-15 second period.

I got in the water with the early tide and didn't get out again till my arms felt like lead.
not go into the water during a tsunami? common, the waves are so strong it would strip the bathing suites off the girls :D
