Just now in my Win XP I just noticed when I "CON'T"-"ALT"-"DEL" and click on the "Aplications" tab I see that the web page thats frozen is in there twice, I'm not sure what thats about, but now when I deleted one of them my page went thru, not sure what up, I need to pay attension now to this if this is the case.

At work on the Dells with IE, it happens all the time. Especially with longer replies, the fans all kick on high, and the window hangs for a few seconds, maybe a minute.

When my ISP isn't acting up, it doesn't matter how long the post is for me, my IE is instant-click. You click and it's done..instantly.

You can say I wrote the same comment above. I wish I can find out if it was IE.

Well you can find out. Most people here on the forum will just tell you to "end all your woes and get Firefox!"..but I don't like FF, however, if you're trying to see if it's just IE, then you can try it and make your mind up from there. IE has never given me a problem, so I trust and swear by it completely.

True, its how you use the browser that matters.......... if you went and click all those prOn link and downloaded a trojan horse, you cant blame IE, cant you? :p
For me, i use both IE and Firefox........... some website just doesnt work right with Firefox, thus i wouldnt consider firefox as a perfect browser, its just a mere subsitute to the IE :D

This forum is about the only place I go on the Internet anyways, so unless the forum gets compromised, I shouldn't have a problem. Very rarely I'll click on a link and go to a site (usually a mirror site for DLing a large file) and the popup blocker will have like 20 things it blocks and I have to click "no" on the ActiveX install prompt like 15 times. I get the hell out of there quickly and go somewhere else.
I'm a web surfing junki, you name it I'll go there.
I try to watch where I go but forget about it, I get into trouble anyway :)
I had to F-Disk my old computer with Win ME so many times the system disks that came with it here showing wear like it was a kids game :)
Now Win XP its a huge pain in the butt with always getting locked out if I'm loading the OS back on again, then I have to call some lady who either from China or where ever and speaks english I cannot understand at all!!!! She says, "I garet yoo growin ereal fast nowe" then reads off this 53 digit long number that I have to type into the screen of death that pops up and prompts that I call the number below to re-activate.
If you have not experenced this pleasure yet don't mess up your software where you need to reload it back on.
I wonder how this works with HDD replacement??? or other things llike the mobo??? anybody???

It's not that it was CA, but it's the fact that I called a computer company and didn't get a call center in Singapore or somewhere else in Southern Asia.
I tell you, this country is headed to the junk yard. I can't believe us PC owners have to talk to someone who is thousands upon thousands of miles away who are most likely considered to be the best english speaking workers they have service us, who pays the big dollars for this computer equipment that they are making for us that I'll call junk!!, its not worth the money they get for it.
I'll stop calling it junk the day I get no more problems with the OS as well as the computer it self. No more corruption, no more viruses, and all the other bad things that come along with the huge amount of money we Americans are spending on this computer harware and software that does nothing but go bad and run crummy in a short amount of time right after owning it for not that long of a time.
This seems to go for most things here in America, cars, etc....
What happen to the day when you bought a product that you knew lasted forever, but would always found it was not being made any more.

I kind of like how M$ went back to the drawing board for Vista/Longhorn. Doing a Linux-esque design on the structure. Build the kernel to be self-sustaining, and then like legos, add pieces on that are actually stable. Even with this in mind, I still wouldn't go to Vista/Longhorn until it was the ONLY thing on the market. I'm going to stick with 2k for a very very long time. I know the support for the critical updates is going to end in July 2006 for 2k, but I should be fine after that. I'm actually probably going to switch over to Mac and keep 2k for games.

With out sounding completely stupid and out dated, what is, or what's it used for, Vista/Longhorn??? and/or made for?
Also to add, I know two people who use Mac and love them.
Back in her drinking days I asked the one girl I know if her Mac was ever infected with a virus. Her reply was she don't have any kind of a virus protection for her PC. Also she did not think that she needed any virus protection. She gave me the impression that Mac's were not affected and bothered with virus'es.
Other than that I've never talked to anyone else about Mac's again :)
.....and again I don't want to sound as stupid as the girl I know to say do Mac's need a virus protection :D

Vista/Longhorn is going to replace XP. I call it both because I don't think anybody knows which one it's going to be called. It started off being called Longhorn, and then got it's name changed to Vista. Basically you'd have to build a $5k rig to meet the minimum requirments to run V/Lh, and the focus of the OS is to completely eliminate piracy.
With Mac and virii, since Mac isn't very popular, there are very very very few virii made for it. Windows virii don't work on Mac. That's why some companies use UNIX for web-based things like FTP servers, HTTP servers, etc. is because the number of UNIX infections is even far less than the number for Macs.
All of your basic, everyday actions are pretty much the same on Macs as they are in Windows. Browsing the web, checking your email, typing up a letter in a text editor. The interface looks different, but it all functions the same. Macs are also highly aimed at multimedia editing. Anyone who really knows what they're doing with making music or doing incredible things with photoshop use Macs.
You just may have talked me into becoming a Mac user, the things you mention are the only things I will ever do with a PC.
I'm not a gamer, so I guess it don't matter when the new OS come if its on an Intel or AMD?
I'm so pissed off about my old PC, I just got off of it. I was getting a warning pop up that was shutting down the OS web page a quite a few times, it got to be where I had to shut down and turn back on notto get that any more. I'd love to know if this goes on with Mac???

AMD's will have a very strong upper-hand with V/Lh, but unless Intel can manage to make a decent dual-core proc, it's safe to say AMD will be better. You'd pretty much need dual-core as a minimum because the GUI (graphical user interface) will have one of the cores pretty much maxed out the whole time, and you'd need 2gb of ram to keep things steady and the best video card on the market right now will struggle.
I don't think you'll have that problem with the browser closing or whatever is happening. Macs are pretty well stable and error-free, but some do happen every now and then.
they're gonna call it vista because they got sued over the name and bought it, not to mention vista sounds a lot more hip, with it, and catchy then longhorn. and it's not going to eliminate piracy, it's only going to make it evolve.

Okay, sorry. "It's supposed to eliminate piracy." :p
 Now you have my head spinning too fast!!!!!!
I just built my PC with 1 Gig memory, but at least I have a dual CPU.
So does this mean my on board video and on board sound won't really work all that well with Vista???
After you help me with these questions, I need to ask, I'm now building a PC for the kid, he won't game on it but we want to build something, so what should I be looking for as far as what ever you say to look for???
Or is this something that will happen down the road in another 8 months?
I would think that we can tell whats to come out soon when you see hardware like routers go so far down in price they are soon to launch a whole new entity in wiring out to other PC's :)

Onboard anything won't work well with....anything. Cept maybe for some onboard sound like on the MSI board...
If you want vista, but won't be gaming on it, then don't blow out tons of money. I think you can get a good vista computer for basic stuff for under 1000 bucks..it will run smoothly too.
