I built my latest PC about 2 months ago. The CPU is a 'venice' core A64 3200+
I installed it with the stock HSF. Everything worked fine until yesterday when I switched the PC on, and as soon as it finished 'detecting IDE drives' the fan fail alarm sounded.
I immediately powered off. Tried it again a minute later for same results. I have a clear sided case so I can see what's going on and it's wierd!
The fan starts normally, but as soon as the PC has finished detecting the IDE drives the fan stops. even if you hit delete to go into bios...
Any thoughts anyone?
