hi everybody,

i have pc with Win XP Professtional in P3 with 500MHz and 4GB Hard disk. well recently, I have install a new Hard disk 115GB as slave

I have a PC P3 with 500MHz and a hard disk 4GB and recently i've wanted to insert a new hard disk 115GB, which already have 2 Partition (65GB + 50GB). At first I inserted it as Slave, in order to control whether it is recognized of my Motherbord and it has it also recognized, then I have it as master inserted, so that I install the OS WinXp Profissional on the new HDD, so I have gotten the message "Primary master hard disk Fail" and down apart from the reference to the BIOS "press DEL ton of enter tons of Setup" stood "to continue press F1". And I did that. The Windows Setup started and the partition recognized, the first partition with 65GB selected and afterwards installed and was everything great and finaly trought the Windows Setup Programm the PC had to be rebooted.
While the boot has I the message "Primary master hard disk Fail".

Please helps me

have you inserted the little plastic jumper on the pins of the HDD? (the HDD should have a diagram of which is primary, slave, etc)

Make sure you do this for both of the drives

Couple of quick questions for you. As you've checked the jumper pin on the primary HDD, I'm presuming you checked the slave as well.

Is this computer a Dell by any chance?

Have you tried removing the new drive to see if it works the way it WAS setup?

If the answers are 'no' and 'yes' respectively then I can't really suggest anything.
"Primary master hard disk fail" is one of the errors I dread seeing the most... There ARE exceptions but it generally translates to "Your HDD has crapped out - hope there wasn't anything important on it!"

After the last time a drive crapped out on me like that I switched to Seagate as they had (and probably still have) the best reputation for durability. Never had a drive fail since.

Welcome to PcStats forum anyway.

*edit* oh, if it IS a dell then you need to set both HDD's to 'cable select' (frequently represented as CS on jumper pin diagrams) rather than master and slave.
