I just put together a system (specs below), and the chipset is located right below the video card (where all the capacitors, etc. are at the end of the card). I suspect that is the primary reason my chipset is running quite warm (44C in bios, which is like 20 degrees more than the cpu =D). Would anyone recommend any good chipset coolers that would fit in there? It must be at MOST 1.5cm tall. Thanks, any help will be appreciated.:)

44 is pretty good, you won't get much better than that with any other heatsink under 1.5cm tall unless you're willing to bear with the noise. If so then you can just set the fan of your current heatsink to spin at max speed 24/7.

The nForce4 is pretty hot chipset at any rate.

Thanks, it's already spinning on max, the noise is completely overshadowed by the case fans. But below what temp should i make sure the chipset stays after overclocking?

Already at max? Hehe, my friends idle around 45-48 so I guess it makes enough sense...

Keeping it under 55C should be good enough.

I've heard of some people putting the Evercool VC-RE Twinkling VGA Cooler on the dfi mobo chipsets. How much of a paint will the installation be, considering nb is not what the cooler is intended for.

I tried it out with a different video card (on pci, not pci-x). The difference on chipset temps was about 6 degrees on average. Whoa!

Eh? I have the VC-RE. Installation wasn't terribly hard. Everything fit fine but I had to be pretty careful about chipping/cracking the core.

try putting a fan blowing above the chipset

BAM!

there's no point adding aftermarket cooler there. the NF4 chipset is hot by nature. your current temp is fine and safe. nothing to worry about.

my asus a8n deluxe nf4 board's fan has been broken for a year. It never spins, ever. Never had a problem either. I use the zalman 7700 cpu cooler which keeps everything around it cool, and 2x zalman 700s, so my case stays cool anyways.
