I read someplace (cannot recall where) that any current AMD 939 socket mobo will support AMD Dual Core CPUs. Anyone know if this is true?
Thanks!
Yep. Any 'good' 939 board that supports an Athlon64 FX will happily accept an X2 in it, even the year old ones. You'll probably need to update the BIOS if it was released pre-X2, but thats all. It fits right into the power / heat requirements of the FX, which all 939 boards have had to adhere to from the start.
After thats done, your OS will want to install the uh, drivers for it, and restart a few times. With XP, and i'm assuming Linux, you wont need to download or install any drivers yourself; the OS just needs to rearrange itself. With that you're in dual core bliss.

Thanks for the quick (and informative) response Skorp!!!
Actually any K8T890 mobo will not work with the X2. Funny thing is that the older K8T800 and K8T800 pro do work though.
They dont? What kind of idiotic BS is this? They release a new PCI-E board and break X2 compatibility?
...calm down, Skorp, go to your happy place.

Yep, unfortunately that's exactly what they did. They didn't realize it until the X2 was about to be released and the chipset had already been out a couple of months so it was too late.
