Hi Everyone

Q1: Does Each Pci-e*16 Technology Useful For Raid Utilities In A Sli Motherboard With 2 Pcie X16? ( Assuming A Gv-3d1 Videocard Attached To One Pci-e X16 , Meantime Only At Gigabyte Sli Motherboards)
Q2: Using An External Sataii Raid Card Atached To One Pci-e X16 Will Help For External Sataii Raid With Extremly High Performance? ( I Saw Some Areca Pcie X8 Bus Sata 2 Raid Controller... Does Anyone Know One X16??)
Q3: Is That Configuration Possible Using Sli Technology At One Pcie X16 With The Mentioned Above Videocard And The Raid Controller X8 Or X16 Atached At The Other One?

Thank U In Advance
Uchu

Aren't the sata raid cards pci express 1 and 4, not 16. Also, SLI operates each slot at pci express 8 speed when enabled (there is no way around this since there are only 16 lanes between the sli controller and the main bus). Perhaps SLI16 will be able to support two individual pci express 16 devices since it will have two sets of 16 lanes?

I haven't seen any PCIe x16 RAID cards for sale anywhere. Seeing as how they are only available to x8 I would expect that there is enough bandwidth there to satisfy the needs of a 4-port controller card. So using an x16 slot wouldn't provide any advantage, nor would one of the boards offering dual x16 SLI.

If you attached a RAID card and a videocard to the x16 slots on a motherboard you would not be using the SLI technology. Each device would just be working independantly and using the bandwidth they require. You will still want to make sure you get a board with enough PCI-Express lanes to handle your devices. The nForce4-SLi x16 chipset sports 38 lanes for the AMD systems, the others all support only 20.

never heard of a external sata raid card.
