I have this mobo on the way

A8N-E Ultra
-Supports AMD Socket 939 Athlon 64FX/Athlon 64 X2/Athlon 64
- NVIDIA® nForce™ 4 Ultra
- PCI Express Architecture
- SATA 2.0

and i was thinking of getting this HDD for this new build.

Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD2500KS 250GB Serial ATA II 7200RPM Hard Drive w/16MB Buffer

BUT

Will it work?

Is SATA 2.0 the same as Serial ATA II?

I know this may be a noobish question so bare with me.

I'm not sure about the 2vsII part, but I'm sure the drive will work.

Thanks for the reply... i am really confused over the whole 2.0 and II wording.
I just want this build to go as smooth as possible and getting a HDD that i can't use would really piss me off.

The good thing is that hard drives are, imo, the easiest things to choose in a build because of the almost universal connectors and...stuff.

But with the way they name them .

ex: Serial ATA, Serial ATA II

some mobos from the same manufacture say right in the specifications that they support SATA II and others just say they support 2.0.

for a person like myself with just a basic understanding of computers and parts it can all be a bit overwhelming at times.

i just want to 100% positive it will work.

Yes, the drive will work just fine. SATA II and SATA 2.0 are the exact same thing. You can also use SATA drives with SATAII interface, and SATAII drives with the SATA interface. Of coures, the features you have available will be the feature set of the lower standard, but everything will still work without any problems.

Thank you for clearing that up for me.

Got 2 on the way.
