I need help. I am newbie on the forum and have a question. I read the article on how to upgrade the cpu and mobo on a WINXP machine. The instructions seem fairly straight forward. However, I have only one problem. I do not have the winxp installation disk as my pc was a custom built job from a vendor on DellAuction.com. Does anyone know a way around the "repair installation" phase of the instruction? Or, am I just up the creek? Please help... thanks.

When i upgraded my CPU/Mobo i just stuck my harddrive in with everything already on it...and all you should have to do is re-validate windows...and the option for that comes up before windows loads...infact in some cases you don't even need the product key...

I did it with an emachines...mind you i can't use my emachines ghost discs anymore...so when i do a fresh install, i have to do it from the i386 folder...the profiles overlap if you don't remove them first...
