View Full Version : Perfect motherboard! Is there such a thing?
Holy Cow! I have been looking for a good motherboard forever, but it seems there are problems with every motherboard I think I want:eek: . I am starting to wonder if there is a motherboard that does not have problems.:o
I just want a good stable motherboard that will work without giving me tons of problems.:) I want a socket 939, 1ghz fsb:cool: . I would like it to be able to handle dual core AMDs but I cant afford to start out with one:o . I dont need SLI:rolleyes: . I want PCI Express x16:cool: . I dont really plan on overclocking but a few overclocking options would not be bad but I dont need a DFI Lanparty:p , epecially not the problems I have heard about them:rolleyes: . I was thinking about an Abit AN8-ULTRA but they discontinued it:eek: and I read in reviews that they have problems with USB ports:confused: and that the board design is not very good(positioning of stuff) . I have heard bad stuff about Biostar(cheap, and cheaply made). I just want something simple, powerfull, and well made.:(
Anyone have a segestion?

Every board will have it's own problems or issues. If you manage to find them every time, then congraduations :p.
What problems with the DFI? I have used or built with...5 socket 939 Lanparties so far, zero issues :p...you just have to know how to handle them. Biostar isn't soooo bad, but not a board I would recommend unless you were on a tight budget.
Stick to major brand such as Asus, Gigabyte, or Abit. Don't believe everything you read. A lot of the positioning will depend on your setup so you have to think in terms of that.

the only problems ive heard of with DFI is they dont play well with corsair ram and they have an issue with the new neo power PSU's. other than that the only other thing is the complicated setup for ppl that dont know what they are doin but thats not a problem with the board

The latest NeoHe PSU's should be fixed. The problem was mainly with Asus motherboards.

My VNF4 Ultra seems ok...in the PCstats review it did bad for overclocking(227 fsb), but on another site, they found a way around this, i forget how...but they eventually got it stable close to 400mhz...

I did that too for my Asus board.
My asus board had problems in the beginning because I got it as soon as it came out, but it's perfectly stable now.

eww VIA hehe j/k
Watch out for the VIA K8T890 chipset. I have it and its got great stability but they don't support Dual Core. Amazingly the K8T800 does.
Only bad things I've ever heard about BioStar are from ignorant people who have never used their products taking things at face value. Just cause they're cheap doesn't mean they are bad. I've used about 8 of them and none of them have had any problems. Stay away from PCchips though, I have had 2 fail out of 5.
