ok, i'm getting paid again tonight so i' might be going to place another order...in the reviews i read my CPU was able to reach 2.6 on stock cooling...will the stock cooler be fine then, or should i get something better?? if so...what is a good, not too expensive cooler for my setup...

thermalright SP-120 or SP-90 (if your motherboard have limited space around CPU)

With stock cooling the CPU could run at 2.5Ghz @ 1.47-1.5V on Winchester D0 revision. What revision are yours, cranswick?

But at that speed and voltage, the CPU temps will hover around 55 Degrees Celcius and the HSF fan will throttle to the max. AMD Delta fan have annoying, high-pitch noise when its running at full speed.......

i was looking at the zalman 7000AlCu's they're pretty cheap...but how do they stack up against the 7700Cu's...i don't really wnt spend 60$ plus tax on a cooler for a CPU i only paid 120$ for...

The 7000 is a tick louder and maybe 5C warmer. Make sure you got clearance though.

There's a graph on this page.

The 7700ALCU performs almost the same as the 7000CU. In T.O it's like 43 bucks :)

For K8 CPUs, the new Noctua NH-U12 does really well with 120mm case fan.
This heatsink is identical to the Kolink model, so that might make finding it a little easier as either will do.

im planning to use a 7700 on my cpu remember that if u are doing things that ask quit much strenght most would come from the gpu and not the cpu :)

I bought a stock X2 4800+ heatsink on ebay for $15... same stats as the SP-120 mentioned above, but hella cheaper.

The X2 4800+ HSF is good for a 110W processor, ie works on the higher X2 and Opterons...

Mine is sitting on a winnie 3500+ (67W), double capacity cooling.
