I'm so sick of noise...i need a cooler for my 6800gt pci-express. I know of the Vf700, AC NVS 5 rev3, accelero x1, and the vf900. The thing is that I have a swiftech mcx159 heatsink for my chipset right under the graphics card. I measured from the end of the card to where the the chipset heatsink starts and I have about 160mm. This rules out the AC NVS 5. I think the other heatsinks will work. Which is the quietest? The vf900 claims 25db, 700 is 29, A1 claims about 24. Anyone have experience with these, especially the A1 and vf900?

There is no way I would use any of those @ 12v.
The only way I'll use the VF900 is @ 5v. (Same noise as the VF700 @ 5v) At that voltage it's barely audible, definitely quieter than the low frequency hum from my Logitech z560 sub...good enough for me. But at a voltage higher than that I would not use it in a good quiet rig. So it depends if it's cooling capabilities will suit you.
In theory, I like the A1 better especially if the card supports dynamic fan speeds. At a minimum rpm of 500 it can be very quiet. If you underclock it in 2D mode, it should be silent until you fire up a game.
The Silencer 5 rev 3 is loud @ 12v (relative to my rig). I haven't tried undervolting it because it was acceptably quiet for my friend's rig. But if you're only looking for an acceptably quiet rig, this might be a good pick as it exhausts air outside the case. In an enclosed case, the noise is acceptable. Seeing that you have a TT psu, the Silencer 5 should not be any louder than it :p

I've always had good luck with Arctic Cooling's coolers for both ATI and nVidia cards. I just installed an Accelero X2 on my graphics card and it did cut down on noise quite abit while keeping the graphics card cooler. The video card is the single loudest piece of hardware in my system, followed closely by my HD. The fans make very little noise and they are usually the problem.

I think I'm going to change my northbridge cooler again by getting one from the RMA dept. at Asus. It's free. Then get the Arctic Cooling NV Silencer 5 rev3....or an accelero x1. I think the A1 is quieter. Thanks for the replies.
