I needed somewhere to put my rad for my new system. And since I couldnt mount it to the side like I previously had planned I figured a top mount would be fine.

I used a dremel and a cutter bit and I think it turned out ok. Took me three tries to pick the right bit, first one sucked, second broke, third one cut the
aluminum like butter. They may not be the straightest cuts but pretty good. For my needs at least. I think I'm gonna get some black edging to put around the hole to smooth the lines and maybe some of this MESH (http://www.crazypc.com/items/200.html) to put over the rad to blend it in. I will only use the mesh if dangerden doesn't send me free fan grills (http://www.dangerdenstore.com/product.php?productid=216&cat=79&page=1). I think is is going to turn out well. Now I just need to figure a way to attach my aluminum evercool fans to the rad. The aluminum housing on the fans make it so you can't use normal fan screws. I think I'll need to hit up a hardware store to find some long aluminum screws. I have a couple days to work on that while I wait for my new pump to arrive since my other ones magnet got chipped somehow. Got the D5 from danger den.

Here are some pics of the case with hole and mounted rad. The last is a mockup of the final result. Just imagine it with either the grills or the mesh blending out the black rad and maybe a UV cathode or LEDs and possibly UV die in the water and lighting up the motherboard. It will glow from the inside and you will be able to see through the res to the glowing motherboard. I can imagine it, and it looks good in my mind.

The lines outside the hole were an accident. I had masked off the top and was trying to make a hole template so I scored the tape with a blade, obviously I pressed too hard and the aluminum was soft. I'm in the process of imagining a way to remedy this.

Looks good. That hex mesh looks like it would match the front of your case pretty well.

Your rad isnt blocking your top 5.25" bay?

looks like you need to repaint the top (maybe a little bit of bondo or whatever)

otherwise not too bad :)
