Well the original WinMX servers shut down without any warning/notice quite a while back. I want to say at least a year ago. Apparently, through some Googling, they sold-out to Sony to become legit (like iTunes, etc.). I just used the OpenNap networks for a few weeks after the shutdown, and then switched over to Lopster (WinLop). Multi-source OpenNap with that.

^ HUH? What's that? I thought it was gone when i went back to download it one time.......i've been hearing it was back, but it's a legit site now *cough* lol so who cares.......I'm down to limewire and bearshare now, i've been introduced to this soulseek which is pretty good, couldn't figure out how to use bittorrents though:confused:

WINMX is a pretty useful tool for downloading shared files. However i have noticed that it is slower than the usual bittorrent sites, plus it seems that you can only search for an artist, not an album. So you get every song that that artist has done, then you have to try and trace through all of the results the one you want.

Bittorrent sites and client like azureus are alot easier to use becuase all of the media is on the website, and they are grouped. So you dont have to go through loads of artists to find the one you want.
