win xp pro disk defragment

i have win xp pro.when i try doing a disk defrag,it says "disk defragmenter could not start".how can i get it rolling?thanks.

Have you tried looking on www.microsoft.com there will more than likely be a solution to your problem there if you do a search

check your services in administrative controls , the service needs to be running i believe or download diskeeper its so much better than standard windows defrag

have tried diskkeeper lite too..it comes "disk keeper can't initialise"!!

ive had that problem before, I forget what I did but i think it ended in a reinstall of windows, google your disk defragmenter problem it should come up
