today i was at a yardsale and i found a 100 yr old (about there cant center the date) photo album late victorian design the most astounding thing ... it has a mark on the hindges that say pat. aped. for (patent appiled for) witch makes it a prototype of its class or style the family crest on the inside its worn down but i can recognize its design and the inside has a little box made from gold right now im trying to id the hallmark and get a acturate age but for 5 bucks im gonna make a killing on ebay then im gonna clean it up and fix the hinges

i will i havnt started rebuiding im kinda wery of using cleaners so any good ideas are apprecated ive found out some odd things the book is is 1 of 3 designs all freestanding all include a mirror (mines missing) locking clips and a hinge that says patent applied for all of them are from the same maker the look is very signature heart shaped mirror (except the third i saw it had a floral mirror) all have 1837-1879 victorian design all used the same styled paper and cutout shapes ive rounded it to 1871 (invention of the dryplate photo) 1880 (photo becomes popular and handheld) but i cant find any maker name company or patend being passed for a freestanding photo album
antiques such as this are the same as collector coins .. you should leave it in its current state and not touch it with any chemicals .. this will actually help it retain its value .. cleaning it will depreciate the value of it.

ok that sounds best ill post a link when its ready but it really is a pretty photobook good condtion for a 120 yr old book hey do you think its a good idea to keep it in a gun safe?
I'd say, Mr Dalek, put those antique in a air-tight packaging and put it in some safe deposit box............ and after your retirement you could sell those antique and with that money you could make yourself a real dalek :D

yup in a gunsafe is just fine
lol when we are on retirement all the water in lakes will be dirty and its gonna be about 30 degrees in the winter and water rises to our shoes who would care about a stupid almost 200 year old photobook
big time congrats bro'. i used to watch that antiques road show sometimes and some dude decided to have fun and take a bunch of stuff his old land lady told him he could have. one painting was $3000+ and some bedroom set was crafted by some dude in the victorian age that worked for nobles and appraised at $80k. haha, dude almost fainted at that one.
i never have luck like that but i will continue my barn search for that special project muscle car. maybe i can find someone who doesn't know the value of their worn 69 and a half Camaro. the rarest camaro ever made. i could sell it to Chip Foose or Boyd Coddington for a nice retirement starter:D
