I rather like the other 3d destkop in wich works like the normal exept that it has the form of a sphere wich allows more to be put on it this is handy for palmtop indeed but for me there are only server, main rigs and laptops

This will be handier in the future, no pun intended, when we use our hands instead of mice. It's already possible to detect objects within a finite 3d space such as hands and even how they are shaped and the way they are pointing. We just don't have off-the-shelf ready stuff right now. In the future, you'll likely have an open space where your mousepad is right now that you can motion in 3d and get actions on the computer. Maybe in front of the monitor too. Wipe from left to right and windows slide off screen to the right like you actually physically swept them off.

The future should be interesting. But there's that old line about living in interesting times, so take that fwiw.

nice idea but i thinks its been put into a wrong context. people generally organise in folders anyways or just keep stuff to hand.

Maybe using the same concept in a different contect might be more productive.

I personally like the current scheme rather than that almost 3D desktop. I like my 2D one. And no it's not just because I have Keeley Hazell on my desktop. They probably would have a file folder droor pull out to help you organize stuff. If now now, then in the future.

well imho then computers give us a pile of possiblitys so rahter then trying to make them emulate real world why not make them make everything easier and faster and better
making computer work seem like normal work may be a nice gemic and show off thing but does it really improve our lives ?
and i'm talking about after the whole impress chicks with ones fancy desktop thing have passed :P
