Hi guys I have 4 diffrent kinds of files on my hard drive. I'm 95% sure they came there when I caught a virus, and now I can't delete it cause it gives me an error. "Cannot delete nwnmed access is denied" "make sure the disk is not full or write protected and that the file is not currently in use" Can anyone tell me how I can delete these files?

try booting into safe mode and doing it there. that should take care of it "being in use". scan it first with a virus scanner to make sure that its actually a virus.

OK I did a scan but it showed up as no virus, but looking at it and it's name it dosn't look like a normal file.

google the entire filename, including the extension. lemme know what comes up with it.

i got the exact same thing off of a limewire file. it was 3 files.

The first file monopolized the registry so that you couldnt access the registry and get rid of the malicious values
The second monopolized the first so that you couldnt delte the first and changed the desktop as well as some other uncontrollable actions
The third monopolized the second program and was monopolized by one of the other two. it also changed certain things, brought up ads, slowed down windows etc.

I didnt know that you could boot into safe mode like that so i couldnt delete them. O well, my windows install was mildly corrupted by a bad install anyway so it was time for a re-install none-the-less.

if it changed your desktop to a nice blue screen saying you were infected with spyware or adware or something, my friend had that. a scan with avg, adaware, and spybot got rid of it completely.

I did a search like you told me speedy and this program came up asking me if I want to remove this file so I said yes and that removed the 3 files. The program is called Prevx1. Now all those files are gone :)
