Ok, I have a machine that runs windows 98 SE....when i try to install the drivers for USB devices, i am asked to put in the windows 98 second edition CD which i do not have in the drive, and continue....is there somewhere i can get the required files, so i don't need the disc to install USB drivers??

Depending on who installed the OS you might find the .cab files from the CD at C:\windows\options\cabs\. Occassionally I've seen the files at c:\Win98 as well. When asked for the CD just type that in the prompt.

Windows 98 SE doesn't install all of it components like Windows 2000/XP do. Now that you are installing a USB storage device Windows actually needs to install so OS support for it. If the above directory path won't work you are going to need the CD.
