The other day before setting up WIndows XP on my system I reformatted the system disk and foolishly enabled NTFS file compression not knowing the repercussions. Now that I know the adverse effects of file compression, I want it gone, but I can't find anywhere to permanently change the setting. I have been systematically decompressing all the compressed files by changing their attributes in the advanced properties, however, all new files are still created in compressed mode.
Is there anyway to disable compression all together without reformatting?
UPDATE
I found the setting under advanced drive settings.
