hi all, I am recently toying with Linux based OS. When booting Ubuntu from the Live CD I created, graphical menu comes up letting me choose what I want to do. when I select start ubuntu, it begins loading but where it gets hung up is in a black screen and at the top it says it is loading boot kernal... After a while nothing happens so I just shut down and booted back into MS? What could I be doing wrong? any suggestions?

Could be ten dozen things. Linux can be very finicky distro to distro. I have yet to have any version of SuSE work on any of my hardware, but installs on VMWare on Windows. OTOH, making Ubuntu work right on VMWare can be annoying but it booted an old server box without a hitch.
