MMMMMM K, so latley I have been trying to figure out how to get this stupid remote desktop to work, I have tried doin it through XP and with RealVNC. They both didnt work because one I got the IPs messed up and I dont know how to change them in the programs. Like I tried to put in my LAN IP and not my internet one. But the program only recognize the LAN IP. So I want to get this figured out because at stupid school they block so many websites but I have my own personal computer that no one else is allowed on so its allright to do this. I am there to learn Cisco stuff and all that.....

So I have been tryin to figure this out by goin through steps I have found on the internet and for some odd reason the box I need isnt there.....

Which should look like this...

So any help would be appreciated...I am having fun learning stuff though....

Thanks

one question, are you running win xp pro or home? you can only connect to a win xp pro computer with RDC.

If you are tryin to connect to your computer with RDC from out side your lan you need to open port 3389 on your router and direct it to the computer you wish to connect to, then when connecting to the computer from outside your lan, use your ISP IP address.

Im runnin Home so I geuss that could be a problem huh, I know there is a way to do it with home with a windows 2000 pro disc which I could get but I dont want to go through the trouble. I kind of know what your talking about with the router and all but I havnt learned how to do any of that so I would have no clue how to configure my router. thanks

I don't know why people say they have a problem with MS RDP. I access two different PCs with it tunneled through SSH across a load of hops to my home and I even access those PCs from Linux boxes with the RDP client availible on that platform. I can redirect printing, disks, etc. RDP rocks over VNC any day.
