Hey, I forgot to include this in the last post. I've seen a lot of emotional debates over this, but none that are backed up with much technical insight. Which is better: Norton Speeddisk 2002 (won't touch newer Norton Software) or the stock Defragmenter? What is interesting is that after I optimize my drive with one, the other reports that the drive fragmentation has soared. SpeedDisk's drive map portrays a much neater, more organized picture of the drive once it gets done defragmenting, but you can only tell so much from a map! Could I get an opinion on NSD v Windows Defrag, and maybe even Diskeeper while you're at it? Appreciate it.

I would use Executive Software's Diskeeper, just because executive software are the ones who build disk defragmenter for windows. The latest version (11) adds a whole lot of function.......

In this thread i reviewed the diskeeper, its version 10 or 9 btw :

personally i dont defrag....ntfs maintains itself alot better then FAT ever did. if it comes time the drive is that badly fragmented, its probly passed the time that windows needs to be reinstalled

I also use Diskkeeper and it does a great job.
