Hi guys is there a timer feature on windows XP like it will shut down at a certain time or can I shut it down via remote form another computer over the internet.
My friends kids stay on the computer all the time so he asked me if there is a way to put time limits or something like that on there.

There is no timer on the operating system, however, you could tell your friend to put a washing machine-coin operating timer on the electrical plug-in that the computer is hooked up to. He not only could limit the amount of time his kids are using the computer, but make money at the same time ... :D

I bet a timer could be made easily... How did that Blaster Worm shut down pc's after like 30 seconds?? Couldnt sumit be made to punch in a time for like after they go to bed to limit them to say an hour or sumit?...

What ever he does it doesnt really stop them turning the comp back on again lol.. Unless they dont have their own windows log in.

Ever been to a cheesy hotel in Vegas, where the only entertainment is the vibrating bed? They have a lock box on the electrical plug where the timer is located. It's an easy set-up and I am sure someone could easily figure out how to hook it up for a computer ... :woot:

Use the PC AUTO SHUTDOWN PROGRAM (http://www.drivermagician.com/autoshutdown/downloadAutoShutdown.htm). I've used it a few years back, now i could see the program made itself into a user friendly program :p

And that coin idea was just funny, i mean, if you really incorporate that idea it'll screw up your pc due to improper shutdown and surge spikes :D
It was good for the vibrating bed, and that's it :D
