FC6 running on my laptop

so since i got in my linux crazy over running it off my zen im gettign this week, i have given up on that idea btw.

instead, i spent half the day today defragging the drive in my laptop, twice. so that i could resize the ntfs partition, and make a 20gb space for FC6 which installed almost painlessly

the setup went fine. got the boot loader working no problem. first boot, checked everything, sound worked, ethernet worked. wireless was recognized but now functional. installed the firmware to fix that. FC6 also detected my screen properly.

only major problem so far, was my cpu wouldnt throtle. but i found out its a bug (http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Bugs/FC6Common#head-e0676100ebd965b92fbaa7111097983a3822f143) in the installer that puts a 586 kernel on some systems when it doesnt detect them properly, instead of putting the 686, so i forced the 686 to install. when i rebooted, i had no gui, it crashed, after a couple reboots it came up properly, had me scared.

edit// holy tabarnac esti ca fais chier. sorry bout teh french, my flashcard reader on the laptop even works now, that was the reason i dumped FC4 off my laptop to begin with, there was no support for these readers at the time. WOOT :D

yea, I have FC6 dual booting with XP on my desktop and I totally agree, Core 6 was SUCH an easy install. I am so pleased with it, enjoy:)

im definitely liking it. i've had very few stumps getting it giong. only thing bugging me right now is i cant get k9copy to work.

i also cant get my battery level on the taskbar under kde, or the network manager on the taskbar. but those work in gnome at least. but i like kde better

so i ditched KDE last nite and figured out how to set up gnome the way i wanted.

i think i found out why i couldnt get k9copy to work. i've been googling for depencies and looked at the site and saw prerequisits, guess the term threw me off. ima try that tonight

i also found the most awesome site (http://linuxappfinder.com/), for me at least

i think ima try ghost for linux later and konverter, something to play with i guess.

i also still cant get java or flash to work in firefox, im such a newb, im also starting to think im talkin to myself
