Check this out, I don't know how they got my email address, maybe because I was bidding on ebay or software that I did not win.

But this email sounds good, has anybody ever done this or heard of it, please read....

Hello,
It has come to my attention that you might have an interest in
purchasing the operating system Windows XP PRO SP2,and/or the
application program Office SYSTEM 2003 pro.(Office includes
WORD,EXCEL,POWERPOINT,ACCESS,FRONTPAGE,OUTLOOK,PRO JECT,VISIO 2003,
PUBLISHER,& ONE NOTE 2003).

I am selling Windows XP Professional, the complete version.
What I have is not the retail store bought version, but is the same
one that Microsoft gives out at IT Professional Conference Meetings
to any Engineer/Sales who comes to them in Europe & The Far East.
Because it does NOT have the "Activation" policy files attached to
the disk,it was not sold to the public, rather it is simply used to
promote business with System Builders (Engineer/Sales who invited
to showed up at the meetings-this is a regular practice of Microsoft
to promote business).

It is not a beta version, trial version,pre-release or anything like
that. And although this is a copied CD and not an official Microsoft
disk,it works exactly the same, and has many more benefits.Since it
has no activation files,it can be installed unlimited times on as
many computers as you like. There are NO restrictions what-so-ever.
However, there would be NO Web Based Support from MICROSOFT(because
it wasn't bought directly from them). That works the same with any
pre-installed program from Compaq or Dell, etc.

Also note, that Microsoft states on their web site-Registration for
windows xp pro is..."Completely Optional".It's all up to you! This
version can be updated at any time via windows update(just the same
as a retail version) and also contains internet explorer 6.0(and you
don't have to be registered).

This is Windows XP Professional SP2, the latest full version, and
as such, it can be used to upgrade from an existing operating system,
or it can also be used to perform a "clean" installation on a blank
hard drive.

I'd be willing to sell it to you for a very low price of $40.-
plus a small shipping & handling fee .If you include Office 2003 Pro
with it, I'll include free shipping for a total of $60.- us dollars.

You simply cannot beat this offer. This would cost you $299.-
plus tax in any store, or $600.- for both cds, and you can only
install the store bought version on one computer. Again, there are NO
limitations or restrictions with this version(other than the web
based support, but who uses that anyways.)

If you want to purchase Windows XP PRO ($40.-) or Office 2003
PRO ($40.-) or BOTH PROGRAMS ($60.-) ), email me with your shipping
address and inform me which item you want, and I'll send it to you
in advance. You will receive it in 4-8 business days (sent from
outside the United States) and check it out for free to see if it
is in perfect condition(readable or not) ,then email me back and
I will provide you with the information on payment.

I will email you the code-number to install the programs, after
I get your payment via an online-payment service such as paypal.com.
This is the best method to do business over the internet.

Thank you, I hope to hear from you soon.

I wouldnt' trust it simply cause it is a risk. However it might as well be true. However if it would be a recognised company or something wich it isn't then go ahead.

I think there are some funny rules about transfering / selling ownership of the engineer copies of XP.

You'd probably need to ask someone that deals with it on a daily basis like Avid or StLouis.

I'm thinking since they state the package will come from out of the USA they are safe, I don't think the USA has any authority to dig up lets say over seas mail, unless it's a federal case I would think?

I all most want to try it figuring all I'll loose is $40.00, then I'm not sure how they want to get paid? because if I was to give out my credit card I would cancel it 10 minutes after I give the number if I didn't get the key number.

It seems like its more trouble than its worth, screw it, I rather just be legitimate and find a cheap used copy that someone did not use.

I wouldn't trust it. just buy it from Tiger direct for $139 brand new

or even wait and load vista on your mac in a few days.

Yeah, I was thinking about getting a retail version because I believe its more easy to install to my other computers if I decide to change out hardware, or even build another whole unit.

I read that others have experienced OEM is not as easy to deal with as Retail is to install on other units, such as for people like us who build.

So I'm not sure what the whole scoop is about that topic anyway.

Hello my new friend! Talk to me.. :)

Thats great you know people to get deals on microsoft, if you can find out what that first email I posted is about that I got asking if I wanted a copy of Windows XP Pro would be nice to know about.

I'd rather buy a cheap copy from you if you were selling them rather than trusting an email from no where.

Ask your friend for their version about an OEM copy compared to a retail copy of XP Pro? I heard so many different versions on how they differ. I hear they are both the same except retail comes with customer support. But then I hear retail is better to move from one computer to another as I would advance to other computers never having more then one computer working, thanks.

the "customer support" you get with a retial copy is only to get it installed, after that, its not free support. OEM CD's are teh same, just the key comes up as an oem, so either way, once its installed, if you need support, its gonna cost, might as well save some on an OEM, microsoft support may then urge you to call your mfg, but since you dont have one, they wont turn you down for support.

the only real main thing you would need to call for would be for the activation, but thats a toll free number and you dont even need to talk to someone for it, unless you want too. but otherwise its automated

Oh okay, things must have changed since I had to call one time for access to get a key number because of F-Disking my HDD, for some reason I had to call even when I first got the software when my friend tried to load it on her system and was not able to, then she gave it to me to have.

I got some lady who said she will get me going fast fast, I no take long. thats even better to get a recording.

lol, ya, its pretty straight forward. itll ask you for the PID, which is the serial that shows in system properties, you punch that in and it activates.

the only time you should ever have any problems is if its been activated before, in which case you can talk to an agent and we just reset it for u. i'll have that process down soon i bet

Wrong! My best friend purchased a file recovery program from Germany (can recover DOD wipes, and he recovered stuff from 4 reimages and 3 DOD wipes with DBAN), and the shipment got "lost." He got it several months later from a company on the East Coast claiming it was misdelivered, but he said they didn't do a very good job of tearing off the original delivery label, and it showed his name and address were right. He then did some more online research and discovered the company it was "misdelivered" to has numerous government contracts. We are both sure he's on a watch list now. Homeland Security routinely monitors mail from overseas.

Oh yeah I agree, but what I was thinking of at the time was if the people mailing out this disc were found out and the mail was seized by the government because of copy rights infringement, I'm thinking what laws do we have here in the USA that can arrest these people lets say are over seas according to the return mailing address, like some 3rd world country that does not recognise any USA laws. If this is the case these people can do this all day long selling XP copies.

Well this is my rule and it applies to charities too. If they contact you, then it could very well be a rip off.

I hear you, I keep getting this one charity call that won't stop, I tell them I pick my own charities when I'm able to donate. I'm sure every one gets calls from the people who say they are calling for the police department. I found out from a cop that they hardly see 5% of that money, its not a real cop calling.
