"Logitech, Creative, NVIDIA driver disgrace"
The driver pain doesn't stop at just nVidia. Creative and Logitech too are falling behind in the race to keep users driver compatable. Read more:

NVIDIA's 100.54 driver performed quite nicely for me, though it is beta. I see they have 100.59 beta out now too which I could only think is better.
Creative's X-Fi drivers is quite garbage. It's lacking way to much compared to XP.

I've run into a similar problem with a Lexmark printer for a client. Drivers are listed as 'coming soon' on the website. What a load of junk! A printer not supported!

printers are going to be a huge problem, because so many printer drivers ran in kernel mode before, vista will not allow that anymore, its to prevent the os from crashing due to bad drivers. and lexmark is one of the worst for that in my experience.
as far as nvidia drivers, mine came straight from windows update. vista has native nvidia drivers to support up to a geforce FX. and the 90 series drivers i believe are on the windows update site.
wait for the 100 series to get out of beta, get signed, and they'll be on there too.
thats one of the best things i've found now with vista, MS is trying to get as many drivers as possible on windows update, if its not there, just wait, you cant possible expect every manufacturer to support their old products right away, they trying to make money, dont forget that

Oh, that's why so many people have been going on about printer drivers. Well, like I've said before, this is what happens when a company tries to fundamentally fix its product halfway through its product lifecycle... :)
so i'm going to /threadjack for a second since vista is pissing the **** out of me.
ok here's the problem, every time i do something it asks me for permission to do it since i'm the administrator. is there anyway to turn this off? also every time i want to create a file somewhere it tells me i don't have permission to do that. i mean holy f*cking ****, it won't let me do what i want on my own pc. i just want to turn off the retard proof option so i could have some damn freedom.
*edit* nvm i fixed it, ****ing worst option ever included.
That is well funny :D im sat here laughing my ass off. I heard that thing was annoying but didnt think it would come up that many times :D

nova, its called User Access Control, despite its annoyance, it is a good feature, it just needs understanding. it would be better to customize its configuration then to turn it off
yes, it is another way to dummy proof windows, and for experienced users like us, it may not be entirely necessary. but for the novice user, who pays attention to it, it'll prevent alot of problems, mainly spyware/virus
it pi$$ed me off too, popped up like 6 times in 2 minutes the first time i ran vista, now its not so bad since i customized the settings, i keep it on, its there for a reason, and even the best of us cant stop everything from happening to our PC's
man i turned it off, i don't doubt the fact that it isn't great, it just isn't great for me.
