I think the version is 10...it's the blue and black one.
You know how windows media player has the list on the left side of the window that tells you the songs that you have queued up? Well, I did something and that list is gone now. I've tried everything to get it back, but now I just have a big window that makes me feel like im on acid. How can I get that list back?

Well the latest version is WMP 11. It came preinstalled with Vista, yet XP user could upgrade theirs to version 11.
Btw that list is called list pane. And to enable back the list pane you just click the small, downward pointing arrow at the NOW PLAYING button. There, just click the list pane and yeah, you're done :D
Here's a screenie :

I've been using it for a while now. I really like the look of it. Just have to download a Vista skin to make Windows match.

I just can't get onto WiMP11. I find the absence of the 'tree' panel (on the left in WiMP9 and 10) for surfing through the library makes the interface pretty cumbersome when you have a few thousand songs you are trying to sort through. Though removing the album art thumbnails improves things, I find it is difficult to find a particular song/album without using the search thinger. I am pretty poor at remember song titles though, so the search is no good.
I am just used to being able to expand the 'Album Artist' list in that left panel and then I can usually find the tune I was looking for. With WiMP11 I never seem to be able to find anything.
Anyway.... .

WMP11 didnt remove the album art thumbnails. And i notice it sort out and put the MP3's in proper arrangement, and even the album update function works better. The search is fast, plus the inclusions of directX hardware acceleration for videos puts the WMP as my first choice in playing videos ;)

The only thing I use WMP for is video. I suppose the first time I get a video I can't play in 10, then I'll upgrade.

If WMP cant play certain video format it is more likely that you're missing the CODECS or the available CODECS is damaged.
In which case, the reinstallation of the codec pack will fix the problem ;)
BTW, how do i ripped song to Windows Media Audio 9 Pro? WMP version 10 and 11 features WMA 10 Pro, and my external pioneer amplifiers only able to decode WMA 9 Pro through SP/DIF?

thats another thing, WMP 11 can actually play DVD's, in WMP 10 if you tried to fast forward or anything, it would hang like a big sloot
