View Full Version : Now scientists create a sheep that's 15% human
Scientists have created the world's first human-sheep chimera - which has the body of a sheep and half-human organs.
The sheep have 15 per cent human cells and 85 per cent animal cells - and their evolution brings the prospect of animal organs being transplanted into humans one step closer.
Professor Esmail Zanjani, of the University of Nevada, has spent seven years and £5million perfecting the technique, which involves injecting adult human cells into a sheep's foetus. ..........

SO yeah, if it develop until 90 or 100% human, doesnt it a human and who could guarantee that it wont kill us all? ;)
I would hate, and i mean hate to see a sheep bearing an AK-47 and start rebelling. I would have them exploded like when you click on em' too much on Warcraft :D

Thats great, perhaps in time they can harvest human organs in a man made animal, there was talk about that in the USA, something like in a tank, I forget.
But of course there are all ways them pain in the ass activists that are against it, because its blah blah blah... and thats only because none of them selfish bastards ever had known someone very close, or even a cherished loved one who died from not getting a liver, or kidney.
I'm sure if their mate or child needed an organ they would all of a sudden change their view. them idiots!
Like stem cell research, there was a study thru the Wilsons Disease Organization metabolic diseases that when injecting stem cells into the blood stream they found their way repairing a badly damaged liver.

Yes, and seeing how greedy and overly clever some scientist, i wouldn't be that far-fetched to see some scientist try to make the sheep 100% human?
And i've read in Popular Science magazine about scientist growing human organ on a organic cesspool :p......... i'd rather take that route ;)
Believe me there are things kept from the public thats done privately, even funded privately, if you seen what's going on you would need therapy for the rest of your life.
Many people ruin public projects, then the bad thing about being private funded means its one mans dream, and it may not be in the best interest of man kinds future.

Wow, quite a bit to think about here. On one hand I'm all for the growing of more organs but on the other I can't help but to think what would happen if thing's got "out of control." Wonder what they mean by, "injecting adult human cells" into the sheep. :p Ooo @ Zefram. Yeah I remember them growing a human ear in a petri dish. And I hear now they have a new technique to turn all blood into type O. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/6517137.stm
Type "O" blood means its the "oldest" blood type known to man, its been around from day one, or at least from the time man was able to identify different bloods.
Then type "A" came out many centuries, decades or how ever long it was after type "O".
Then type "B" came out many years after type "A", or was it the other way around where type "B" first then "A".
Then type "AB" came out, from what I remember reading in this book I have type "AB" in not that old making it a little on the rear side to have, and it also makes it easier for someone with "AB" to get a liver transplant because an "AB" person can take any type blood donor.
big deal, monkeys are 97% human. what scares me is a few years ago they made goats some % spider, so they could harvest their milk and make spider web silk out of it since pound for pound nothing in this world is stronger. i hate spiders, did i mention that?
See now thats cool, how long ago do you think that project was on the board to make spider silk? Since 1960?
dunno, but the stuff they were making wasn't near as tough as spider silk. apparently we know what spider silk is made of, but we have no idea how the spider takes the liquid and makes it into a wire. there was a documentary about it a few years ago on the discovery channel.
Can you imagine how hard that study must be to learn how the spider makes this silk webbing? Science is waiting for someone with the smarts to run with this.

which is why scientist which hates spider went ahead and create carbon nanotubes ;)
They are way tougher than Spider silk :D

"wouldn't be that far-fetched to see some scientist try to make the sheep 100% human?"
well 100%human == human
70%human sheep or really 30% sheep 70% humans would have a mean afro :P
"big deal, monkeys are 97% human."
no we share about that % DNA with chimps and bonobo's(not specialy related to bono they are monkeys :P )
but that dont mean they are 97% human
with the sheep some cells are pure human dna
we also share 33% of our genes with Daffodils and various %
with other types of life
kinda like you may have 97% of the same lego blocks and the
guy sidding next to you building but that dont mean that
the lego birthday cake will be 97% bicycle he's building ;)

Well someone had to think out loud here... Wonder how much of a percentage of human cells in a sheep would be needed to legally mary one? Parents bugging you to get married? Take a drive down to the farm!

I think this cross breading with animals and humans all ready happened, don't some people look like they are one DNA molecule from some type of primitive brow ape? They have that I can pull any wagon with out a break anytime.. :)
And speedy11309, bush not only is sheepish, he is living proof anybody thats unconsious can be president that has lots of money. He sure comes across as the most stupidest idiot in the white house, I can't believe in the press conference there was a reporter that was blind with sun glasses on, and Bush said in a snotty way, "You going to ask that question with those shades on" as if he was disrespecting him, that pist me off that someone who is suppose to be running our country is that stupid, geeeze... :fighty:

I've seen that on the daily show, and by looking at Bush i'd say he dont know that the reporter is blind. And if you aint blind and wear those sunglasses in the press conference, doesnt that mean you disrespect towards the president?
So its a simple matter of misunderstanding - and you're getting this opinion from a non-U.S resident, completely naturals, non-democrats nor republicans.
And honestly, what's up with blind reporters?

yeah deaf reporters are bound to be less biased :)
hope he dont use a pda or taplet to write on and have it recognize his handwriting blind peoples handwriting is almost as ugly as mine! :P
The thing with wearing sun glasses is the unwritten rule, you are suppose to remove them to make eye contact when first meeting some, it is not polite, it is a sign that you were hiding something or you are a shifty person.
Okay, nobody is perfect, I'm not, but the thing with Bush is more than just that thing with the reporter wearing sun glasses, ever since he has been in office he presents him self as being so uneducated, very poor speech skills, its very embarrassing when he is made fun of because of how dum he comes across, he suppose to represent the country that I love so much.
I heard that when Bush was Governor he never came across as incompetent while giving a speech like he does now, there was a comment that this was because he was telling the truth, but since he became president he is made to lie about everything and this confuses him, this is why he comes across as not having it together at speech time.
and nova, what the heck is up with your sig?
it was "the sh1t" when 300 came out, just putting 2 good things together to make an awsome ytmnd.
He sure comes across as the most stupidest idiot in the white house,
if you are going to insult the president, you may want to sound somewhat intelligent yourself.
Just in case you didn't get your citizen ship yet there "joe", or need to brush up on it, I'll help you with that on educating you on some facts, not to be confused with you "wanting me to sound somewhat intelligent myself".
Freedom of speech is the 1st Amendment;
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
So before you tell me... ("you may want to sound somewhat intelligent yourself")... try shutting off your computer some time and watch the news to see why Bush has a 30% approval rate, the lowest rating that any one president has ever had in the history of the USA.

i have no idea but that is what your avatar looks like on my screen....oh and btw, earlier i meant avatar, not sig. my b.
LOL both of joe's in this forum are going on forum-warz!! ;)
Actually joeeye, saying that bush having the lowest approval rating of 30% was somewhat misleading. What you have to realize is that now in the age of information, there's a lot of polls and stuff, thus everyday you could see polls coming to light.................
Before this, other president had their share of criticism - Nixon with his famous watergate scandal (funny you dont see his approval rating?).
And war in Iraq aint simple as it seems. NOW if United States just withdraw their army from Iraq, and the country fell into anarchy - people from other country would blame this on Unites States. I would love to see the Democrats came out with a effective plans, but all this while all i see is 'withdrew, withdrew, and lest we forgot bout' Iraq'.
From the way i see it, even if Bush did go to war in Iraq for dubious reasons (read:Oil), it would benefit the United States because Iraq have more than 1 Trillion US$ worth of oil. And dont get me wrong, United States is pretty much the harbinger of technology and advances in science - i wouldnt mind they blast some dictator ass to use the natural resources there - in the end all the people around the world would benefit. LOL :p
BTW joeeye, Joe is upholding the first amendment - he is the forum admins and he didn't show any totalitarian stuff :D
BTW how's a discussion about sheep turned into bushisms war?
Yeah Zefram, there are many polls taken, I meant this poll where he is 30%.
http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2006-05-08-bush-approval_x.htm
Actually if you do a search the percentage on Bush goes from 7% liberal to all over the board.
I respect anybodies comments to what I say, but don't just don't insult someone with out expressing your reasons why.
Please excuse me if I don't seem too happy about our president and how he and his government staff is handling situations in the war that that have been made well aware of, mainly in the department of how our wounded soldiers are cared for.
I won't touch the views of the war or take sides how we are to pull out, I will say I suspect its for oil power, and that Sadam did need to get out of Iraq, actually he did need to die because he was a threat to me on US soil.
But I will tell you a story that comes from the people who have served in the war, this information has me very angry on why are we helping these people other than for their "OIL".
I have a friend who is a surgeon, all that I say came right from the front line and direct from the source, no guessing here on what I say, it is horrible with the way Iran doctors and staff help out with American wounded, and they give us Americans the worst out dated hospital equipment to use, that just might have been all they had, but I don't think so.
The medical station in Iran where my personal friend was operating on patients was not get any help when it came to American soldiers, Iran people made it obviously clear they did not care or want to help as fast as they should have done, supplies and even x-rays and scans that were needed were taken there time about getting, and what upset my friend is when this one soldier came in hurt very bad crying the Iran doctor "SMILED" as the injured man was rolled in on the table, that bastard was so happy to see one of ours hurt....
I have many more first hand stories right from the persons mouth that lived it, he is a professional well respected liver transplant surgeon here in the USA, and there would be no reason for him to make up things.
War it hard, its about death, but when you have the power to change things for the better for our men and woman who are making life safe for us to sleep at night this is where I have a bug up my butt when our government don't seem to care. I believe if Clinton was still in power you would not hear this story, after all he made it possible for our children to get medical care in school.
Other than what I get first hand I have no other comments about the war, I will not believe all of that I see on the news, for example when that soldier was shaking hand with Hillary Clinton as if things were so bright and sunny, but they were not, because the soldier was giving the secret hand gesture that they do when held hostage to show they were being told to say something against their will. Did anybody see that?
So I'd be happy to discuss your opion and views if you don't like what I have to say, just don't insult with out just cause.
$1 trillion worth of oil is nothing zef. if you think about it, we've spent over 500 billion on iraq alone, and estimates go as high as 2 trillion by the time this is all over. even if they gave us that $1 trillion for free, we'd still be losing more money.
my guess is theres quite a bit more, estimates go as high as $100 trillion worth of oil in the entire middle east. thats probably why we haven't moved on to electric cars yet.

Yeah, crazy numbers....., then look at the flip side, like I keep thinking about, if Sadam and who ever else is on his side have had a chance to start a problem choking off oil supply, this would make Opec put the price of oil out of this world, maybe 7.00 a gallon, who knows? if there was no war that might have happen in due time, so that may have been a good reason to go to war to avoid that, this was/is the only way America benefits from the oil.
So lets hope this war will start to wind down soon and use less oil, hopefully gas prices will follow because of oil demand should not be that great, so hopefully opec will adjust accordingly.

Think about this: A U.S Army Base, smacked right in the middle of the middle east, where allied (rofl i mean coalition, whatever) could outflanked anyone who dare to attack U.S allied Israel, and United States doesnt need to stay in their floating island (aircraft carrier) in the gulf sea anymore, and U.S presence on the middle east would deter any smart-arse country like Iran from getting too aggressive ;)
Overall, the deed is done, and now i think United States have to come out with something to hold Iraq together, create a healthy society there and hopefully new generation if Iraqis would grateful towards United States, and help the United States or resist aggressors in the middle east.
But you all gotta agree with me, at least Iraq is way better than Afghanistan. The people there are die-hard extremes militants, they are not educated, lives in caves (lol) all all they care for is to fight anyone who aren't on their side. :p
maybe bombs were reaching their expiration date :P
That's the favorites theory of all - United States military contractors needed wars to make profits ;)
But nah, missiles shelf life is around 25-40 years (older russian antitank munition used by the Afghanistan and Lebanon resistance dated back to 60's).
Owh, and anyone remember the Falkland War? The french exocet sea skimming missiles launched by the Argentine jets hit a british destroyer but it did not explode. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Falklands_War#Sinking_of_HMS_Sheffield)But the destroyer did sink due to the fire caused by the missile exhaust fire. This again proves that the French product are bad, but it still do the job :p

They need to pay for all the bullet, the pigeon (how they communicate with eachother?), goat costume (how come U.S cant find all of them? They disguises themselves as goats), and for their wives. And they could have four of em'.
Dont get me wrong, i'm all against polygamy, its a sad situation to see in poorer country where men married 2-4 wives and have dozens of children and they're all not well fed, and ended up being religions extremists after being fed with religion bullcraps!
And guys, those suicide bombers could do those brave act thanks to crystal meth. Japs kamikaze starts using it, and now religion extremists suicide bombers used it............
