I don't know if my network is slow, or I'm transferring too many files at once ;)

You do know that your router is just going to overheat and lock up when you have like 15 minutes left lol.

I installed 4 x 500GB HDs in a RAID 5 array in my Gaming system and am trying to transfer the files off of my server. I will have to let it run overnight. Right now My server has 2 x 500GB drives in a RAID 1 that gives me around 420 formated GB. I was starting to run low. The new RAID gives me 1.35TB of redundant formatted storage.

Just curious, what do you use a linux system for?

where did linux get mentioned?

shiz, keep in mind most vista drivers havent been optimized for performance. network drivers fall in that category. i've noticed slower network transfers too when my vista systems are involved. thats alot of data too though. so its hard to tell which factor is more relevant

Just curious, what do you use a linux system for? I'm transferring files from a WinXP Pro system, to Vista Ultimate. There is no Linux involved.

I should have hooked up the gigabit switch, but I'm still getting organized at my new place.

The transfer is still going...only 4h 52m left :)
