I was wondering how i can host a file so others can download it.
have to have a server and make an FTP site. or something along those lines

If it's just some files, just use a free file host like RapidShare, MegaUpload, MediaFire etc.

If it's videos, try google video or youtube.

Well what i was more wondering is there a way for me to just like direct conect to some ones ip or somthing and send a file kind of like yim an aim but just a 2P2 program that i pick who i send it to and thats all it dose.

I use Yousendit.com
send up to 100 MB to whoever with a free account... can send up to 2 GB with a payed Premium account... I have a free one. :)
One of colins tips is setup your own FTP..
I tried it works a treat..
You just select a single folder on your comp
set up the FTP stuff (it says how in the thread)
Password it.
Other typies in the ip and address somehow and types in password then they can get any FTP files you say they can :D
