Anti virus for a 500 Mhz Laptop

Hi,
I would like to know a good free Anti virus for my laptop.My friends adviced me the Actve Virus Shield but I don´t know anything about it!Should I use instead the AVG?
Please,advice is wellcome

i use avg on all of my machines, and i tell all my friends and family to use it as well. from what ive seen, avg is the best ive ever used...free or not.

I love NOD32. Lightweight with a very high detection rate.

On a 500MHz laptop, why not just run Linux though? Then you don't need to worry about viruses at all.

NOD32 is great! A light weight distro of Linux might be just what he needs.
