View Full Version : Please help recover files
Hi,
I have two hard drives one 45GB "C" drive for windows etc. The other drive 160GB partitioned "D" & "E" drives.
Do not know why but I am now unable to access D & E partitions error message "file directory corrupt unreadable" Properties box showing RAW instead of NTFS file system. Used/Free space showing 0bytes.
Have tried using Testdisk finds partitions but unable to open file system.
is there anyway/point in trying to recover files on this drive please.
regards,
Mike. I am no dos expert but am able to follow step by step instruction.

Ive used a tool recovermyfiles (http://www.recovermyfiles.com/) it restored a HD from RAW back to NTFS and even kept all the names and folder structure. For some reason it didnt get some text files but other than that it completely recovered the whole drive (80GB). You have to buy it to actually recover anything but you can download it and see what you would be able to recover before purchasing. Good luck.
Thanatos,
I appreciate your fast response.
Will give the programme a try and let you know how I get on.
Thanks,
Mike.

Recover My Files doesn't even find any files for me so I wouldn't buy it. Finds like part of the OS and that's it.
Recover My Files does find the files. I have not purchased it yet.
What I really want is to repair the corrupt drive. Does anyone think this is viable?

WHat i would suggest is this...
Look up FileScavenger - Excellent Data recovery tool. It has persoanlly saved my butt several times.
I then suggest Getting the corrup drives and doing a fast format. Not a Full Format.
This will then remove the corrupt areas and re write them making the drive useable again. File scavenger is a very powerfull program that can recvoer data after full formats many times over. This would be the approach i would persoanlly do.
Cheers,
Will give it a go.
Mike.
